Appeared first in 1939 as above, then in 1940:14, Pls. 10-11 [ref. 2130]; types established in later publications (but perhaps incorrectly). A holotype was selected by Herre, but that was an invalid (pers. comm. E. Derijst, 2/17/2007). Current status: Valid as Neostethus borneensis Herre 1939. Phallostethidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
