Gender of species needs research. •Valid as Mugilogobius fuscus (Herre 1940) -- (Larson in Randall & Lim 2000:638 [ref. 25122] as fusca, Nakabo 2000:1242 [ref. 25182] as fusca, Larson 2001:123 [ref. 25522], Larson & Murdy 2001:3601 [ref. 26293], Sakai et al. 2001:113 [ref. 25693], Nakabo 2002:1242 [ref. 26193], Kottelat 2013:413 [ref. 32989], Larson 2022:161 [ref. 39971]). Current status: Valid as Mugilogobius fuscus (Herre 1940). Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Seychelles; Sri Lanka; Philippines, New Guinea, north to Japan. Habitat: brackish.
