Paratypes: CAS-SU 23287 (2). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:85 [ref. 12291]. Randall & Rocha 2009:709 [ref. 30520] designate the holotype of H. iridescens Jenkins 1901 as the neotype of Julis ornatissimus Garrett 1863, making iridescens Jenkins an objective synonym of H. ornatissimus (Garrett 1883). •Synonym of Halichoeres ornatissimus (Garrett 1863) -- (Parenti & Randall 2000:23 [ref. 24943], Mundy 2005:439 [ref. 28379], Randall 2007:338 [ref. 30952]). Current status: Synonym of Halichoeres ornatissimus (Garrett 1863). Labridae. Habitat: marine.
