phillipsi, Thunnus Jordan [D. S.] & Evermann [B. W.] 1926:13, Pl. 2 (fig. 4) [Occasional Papers California Academy of Sciences v. 12; ref. 15593] Bay of Islands, New Zealand. Holotype (unique): CAS 596 (photograph only). Original states that the type is CAS 596, a photograph of a mounted specimen. •Synonym of Thunnus maccoyii (Castelnau 1872) -- (Gibbs & Collette 1967:115 [ref. 13640], Collette & Nauen 1983:87 [ref. 5375], Nakamura 1990:404 [ref. 21700], Collette 2003:15 [ref. 27312]). Current status: Synonym of Thunnus maccoyii (Castelnau 1872). Scombridae: Scombrinae. Habitat: marine.
