SU 20163 Chloea nakamurae Jordan [D. S.] & Richardson [R. E.], 1907 Holotype  [Collection database record]
nakamurae, Chloea Jordan [D. S.] & Richardson [R. E.] 1907:265, Fig. 3 [Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 33 (no. 1570); ref. 10643] Nagaoka, Echigo, Japan. Holotype: CAS-SU 20163. Paratypes: USNM 61680 (2). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:109 [ref. 12291]. Originally as Chloëa nakamurae. Named for Masao Nakamura. The spelling nakamurae is acceptable; early workers almost certainly Latinized the name first, and then added an 'e' (Art. 31.1.1) [WNE, 12 Mar. 2012] -- we now suggest using nakamuae if the species is treated as valid. •Synonym of Chloea castanea (O'Shaughnessy 1875) -- (Berg 1949:1072 [ref. 20662], Lindberg & Krasyukova 1975:384 [ref. 7348]). •Synonym of Chaenogobius annularis Gill 1859 -- (Okada 1961:676 [ref. 6363]). •Synonym of Chaenogobius urotaena (Hilgendorf 1879) -- (Kim 1997:581 [ref. 24032] as urotaenius). •Synonym of Rhodoniichthys laevis (Steindachner 1879) -- (Vasil'eva 1998:146 [ref. 23591]). •Synonym of Gymnogobius laevis (Steindachner 1879) -- (authors). •Synonym of Chloea castanea (O'Shaughnessy 1875) -- (Berg 1949:1072 [ref. 20662], Lindberg & Krasyukova 1975:384 [ref. 7348]). •Synonym of Gymnogobius castaneus (O'Shaughnesy 1875) -- (Stevenson 2002:272 [ref. 26489], Dyldin & Orlov 2017:189 [ref. 35257] with question). •Valid as Gymnogobius nakamurae (Jordan & Richadson 1907) -- (Ito et al. 2021:[3] [ref. 38897]). Current status: Synonym of Gymnogobius castaneus (O'Shaughnessy 1875). Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: Sea of Japan coast of central Japan. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
