Fish Commission v. 19 [1899]; ref. 2501] Said to have come from Laguna de Chapala, obtained in market at Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Holotype: CAS-SU 6159. Paratypes: CAS-SU 6212 (3). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:66 [ref. 12291]. •Questionably the same as Chirostoma sphyraena Boulenger 1900 -- (Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:519 [ref. 27061]). Current status: Synonym of Chirostoma sphyraena Boulenger 1900. Atherinopsidae: Menidiinae. Habitat: freshwater.
