Type catalog: Koumans 1940:144 [ref. 2676] as 2 cotypes in SU 6646, Böhlke 1953:118 [ref. 12291]. •Synonym of Ctenotrypauchen microcephalus (Bleeker 1860) -- (Lindberg & Krasyukova 1975:413 [ref. 7348]). •Valid as Trypauchen wakae Jordan & Snyder 1901 but in 'Traupauchen' group -- (Murdy 2006:61 [ref. 28850]). •Synonym of Paratrypauchen microcephalus (Bleeker 1860) -- (Murdy 2008:118 [ref. 29751], Kottelat 2013:433 [ref. 32989], Parenti 2021:66 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Synonym of Paratrypauchen microcephalus (Bleeker 1860). Gobiidae: Amblyopinae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
