Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:89 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Opistognathus hopkinsi (Jordan & Snyder 1902) -- (Machida in Masuda et al. 1984:200 [ref. 6441], Myoung et al. 1999:141 [ref. 25170], Nakabo 2000:741 [ref. 25086], Nakabo 2002:741 [ref. 26001], Hiramatsu & Endo 2013:19 [ref. 32573], Sonoyama et al. 2020:57 [ref. 37637], Mochizuki et al. 2022:21 [ref. 39612], Smith-Vaniz 2023:61 [ref. 40049]). Current status: Valid as Opistognathus hopkinsi (Jordan & Snyder 1902). Opistognathidae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: Japan, Taiwan and Fiji. Habitat: marine.
