Holotype: CAS-SU 11656. Paratypes: (4) BMNH 1895.5.27.330 (1), CAS-SU 1656 (1), ZMB 14084 (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:143-144 [ref. 12291]. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to central Chile, including central and southern Gulf of California (Mexico), Cocos Island (Costa Rica), Malpelo Island (Colombia) and Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). IUCN (2010): Least concern. Habitat: brackish, marine.
