Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:126 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Ainocottus ensiger Jordan & Starks 1904 -- (Watanabe 1960:87 [ref. 11959], Kim & Youn 1992:63 [ref. 22287]). •Synonym of Myoxocephalus polyacanthocephalus (Pallas 1814) -- (Neelov 1979:121 [ref. 3152], Sheiko & Fedorov 2000:28 [ref. 25650], Choi et al. 2003:576 [ref. 26218], Nakabo 2002:1526 [ref. 26001], Parin et al. 2002:S81 [ref. 28300], Parin et al. 2014:262 [ref. 33547], Mecklenburg et al. 2016:79 [ref. 34440], Dyldin & Orlov 2017:66 [ref. 35138]).
