Paralectotypes: CAS-SU 7599 (2), 7601 (1); USNM 49819 (1), 164192 (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:148 [ref. 12291], Pietsch & Arnold 2020:103 [ref. 38284]. Lectotype established by Pietsch & Grobecker 1987:58 by referrence to Böhlke 1953:148 [ref. 12291] who did not establish the lectotype. •Valid as Phrynelox nox (Jordan 1902) -- (Araga in Masuda et al. 1984:103 [ref. 6441]). •Synonym of Antennarius striatus (Shaw 1794) -- (Pietsch & Grobecker 1987:58 [ref. 20669], Pietsch 1990:484 [ref. 15577], Lindberg et al. 1997:218 [ref. 23547], Pietsch & Arnold 2020:100 [ref. 38284]). Current status: Synonym of Antennarius striatus (Shaw 1794). Antennariidae. Habitat: marine.
