CAS 370 Scarus leucostigma Jordan [D. S.], Evermann [B. W.] & Tanaka [S.], 1927 Holotype  [Collection database record]
Though orig. descr. has length as 245 mm, the illustration is definitely based on this specimen. Handwritten note with fish indicates that cat. no. should be CAS 376, but other sources confirm cat. no. as CAS 370.
leucostigma, Scarus Jordan [D. S.], Evermann [B. W.] & Tanaka [S.] 1927:676, Pl. 24 (fig. 2) [Proceedings of the California Academy of Sciences (Series 4) v. 16 (no. 20); ref. 2454] Honolulu market, Oahu Island, Hawaiian Islands. Holotype (unique): CAS 370 [not 376]. The holotype is about 450 mm TL, disagreeing with the length given in the original description, but this larger specimen agrees is all details with the figure. •Synonym of Chlorurus perspicillatus (Steindachner 1879) -- (Parenti & Randall 2000:53 [ref. 24943], Mundy 2005:452 [ref. 28379], Randall 2007:361 [ref. 30952]). Current status: Synonym of Chlorurus perspicillatus (Steindachner 1879). Scaridae. Habitat: marine.
