Lectotype: CAS 60711 [ex CAS-SU 2243 [ex IU 5120, 165 mm]]. Paralectotypes: CUMV 72933 (1), SU 2243 [ex CU 1704] (1). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:171 [ref. 29155]. Name appeared earlier as a nomen nudum in Kindle 1893:72 [ref. 27364]. Lectotype selected in Eigenmann 1925:364 [ref. 1244] in caption to Pl. 22, fig. 2. See Birindelli et al. 525 [ref. 31519] for remarks on the type locality. See Birindelli et al. 525 [ref. 31519] incorrectly rejected the lectotype designation by Eigenmann; the figured specimen is identifiable; CAS 60711 is the lectotype -- Ferraris 2007:171 [ref. 20155] and the Catalog of Fishes. •Valid as Hassar wilderi Kindle 1895 -- (Burgess 1989:223 [ref. 12860], Sabaj & Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:461 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:171 [ref. 29155], Birindelli et al. 2011:535 [ref. 31519], Sabaj Pérez & Birindelli 2013:152 [ref. 32562]). Current status: Valid as Hassar wilderi Kindle 1895. Doradidae: Doradinae. Distribution: Tocantins and Araguaia River basins, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
