Holotype (unique): CAS 48061. •Valid in Scolecenchelys [profundorum] -- (Castle & McCosker 1999:121 [ref. 24075], McCosker et al. 2012:5 [ref. 31982]). •Valid as Scolecenchelys profundorum (McCosker & Parin 1995) -- (Machida & Ohta 1996:79 [ref. 22154], Pequeño 1997:80 [ref. 23536], Pequeño & Lamilla 2000:434 [ref. 24906], Hibino et al. 2012:182 [ref. 32443], Hibino et al. 2013:45 [ref. 32418], Hibino & Kimura 2015:17 [ref. 33951]). Current status: Valid as Scolecenchelys profundorum (McCosker & Parin 1995). Ophichthidae: Myrophinae. Distribution: Southeastern Pacific: Nazca Ridge. Habitat: marine.
