Holotype: CAS-SU 16122. Paratypes: CAS 20114 (3); CAS-SU 16123-24 (2, 2). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:27 [ref. 12291]. Second author is A. Fernández-Yépez. •Valid as Synaptolaemus cingulatus Myers & Fernández-Yépez 1950 -- (Garavello & Britski in Reis et al. 2003:81 [ref. 27061], Sidlauskas & Santos 2005:121 [ref. 28904], DoNascimiento 2016:537 [ref. 34727]). •Synonym of Synaptolaemus latofasciatus (Steindachner 1910) -- (Britski et al. 2011:60 [ref. 31499], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:[5] [ref. 35679]). Current status: Synonym of Synaptolaemus latofasciatus (Steindachner 1910). Anostomidae. Distribution: Upper Orinoco River, Casiquiare, and upper Xingu River basins: Brazil and Venezuela [if valid]. Habitat: freshwater.
