Holotype: CAS 40910. Paratypes: CAS 34917 (1), 34435 (1); CSIRO H 1183-03 (1). •Synonym of Bathycongrus retrotinctus (Jordan & Snyder 1901) -- (Castle & Smith 1999:993 [ref. 25141], Hoese & Gates 2006:290 [ref. 28997], Karmovskaya & Smith 2008:35 [ref. 29972]). •In part (a paratype) a synonym of Bathycongrus guttulatus (Günther 1887) -- (Karmovskaya 2009:140 [ref. 30139]). Current status: Synonym of Bathycongrus retrotinctus (Jordan & Snyder 1901). Congridae: Congrinae. Habitat: marine.
