Holotype: CAS-SU 32971. Paratypes: CAS-SU 32972-73 (1, 1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:16 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Bathylagus wesethi Bolin 1938 -- (Kobyliansky 1985:61 [ref. 8149], Matarese et al. 1989:64 [ref. 26885], De La Cruz Agüero et al. 1997:67 [ref. 24545], Fricke et al. 2011:356 [ref. 31242]). •Valid as Bathylagoides wesethi (Bolin 1938) -- (Love et al. 2005:29 [ref. 37547], Burton & Lea 2019:38 [ref. 37205], Love et al. 2021:47 [ref. 39279], Page et al. 2023:81 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Bathylagoides wesethi (Bolin 1938). Bathylagidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Oregon (U.S.A.) south to Pacific coast of southern Baja California Sur (Mexico); southwestern Pacific: New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
