S.] 1940:441 [Proceedings of the California Academy of Sciences (Series 4) v. 23 (no. 29) (art. 78); ref. 12328] Lake Cashiboya, Ucayali and Morona rivers, Peruvian Amazon system. Holotype: CAS 6421. Paratypes: CAS 6418-19 (1, 1), 35612-14 (2, 7, 1); USNM 119003 [ex CAS 6421] (2), ?167718 (2), ?342168 (2). •Synonym of Anchoviella guianensis (Eigenmann 1912) -- (Loeb 2015:68 [ref. 36196]). •Valid as Anchoviella alleni (Myers 1940) -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:6 [ref. 9708], Whitehead et al. 1988:324 [ref. 5725], Kullander & Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:40 [ref. 27061], Loeb 2012:14 [ref. 31849], Barriga Salazar 2014:104 [ref. 35745] as Anchoviellia, Loeb & Figueiredo 2014:38 [ref. 35456], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:14 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Anchoviella alleni (Myers 1940). Engraulidae: Engraulinae. Distribution: South America: upper Amazon River basin (Peru and Ecuador). Habitat: freshwater.
