lativirgatus, Microgenys Pearson [N. E.] in Eigenmann 1927:355 [Memoirs of the Museum of Comparative Zoology v. 43 (pt 4); ref. 12292] Rio Pusoc [probably Río Púsac], above Balsas, Peru. Syntypes: CAS 47171 [ex IU 17642] (4). The gender is evidently feminine, so name changed to lativirgata. •Valid as Microgenys lativirgata Pearson 1927 -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:9 [ref. 9708] as lativirgatus, Langeani in Reis et al. 2003:144 [ref. 27061], Thomaz et al. 2015:Add. 5 [ref. 33893], Netto-Ferreira 2024:218 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Microgenys lativirgata Pearson 1927. Characidae: Stevardiinae. Distribution: South America: Maranon River drainage, upper Amazon River basin, Peru. Habitat: freshwater.
