Paratypes: CAS 79101-02 (5, 3), 79104 (not given), 91015 (1); NSMT-P 46293 (2); UMMZ 214496 (3), 217312 (not given), 217313-15 (2, 2, 1). •Synonym of Tetraodon cambodgiensis Chabanaud 1923 -- (Ebert 2001:91 [ref. 25494]). •Synonym of Pao cambodgiensis (Chabanaud 1923) -- (Kottelat 2013:479 [ref. 32989]). •Valid as Tetraodon barbatus Roberts 1998 -- (Freyhof et al. 2000:97 [ref. 25184], Saenjundaeng et al. 2013:77 [ref. 32782], Saenjundaeng et al. 2013:77 [ref. 33104], Taki et al. 2021:505 [ref. 39830]). Current status: Valid as Pao barbatus (Roberts 1998). Tetraodontidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Mekong River basin, Thailand and Laos. Habitat: freshwater.
