Holotype (unique): CAS 595 (photograph only). Original states that type is CAS 595, a photograph. •Synonym of Thunnus thynnus (Linnaeus 1758), subspecies orientalis (Temminck & Schlegel 1844) -- (Gibbs & Collette 1967:118 [ref. 13640], Collette & Nauen 1983:90 [ref. 5375]). •Synonym of Thunnus orientalis (Temminck & Schlegel 1844) -- (Mecklenburg et al. 2002:811 [ref. 25968], Collette 2003:15 [ref. 27312]). Current status: Synonym of Thunnus orientalis (Temminck & Schlegel 1844). Scombridae: Scombrinae. Habitat: marine.
