The original holotype (unique, EMBC 228) from Puerto Lagunas, Melchor I., Chile was destroyed. A neotype was designated by Andriashev 1997:6 [ref. 23198]. Holotype (unique): EMBC 228 (destroyed) •Valid as Careproctus crassus de Buen 1961 -- (Pequeño 1989:57 [ref. 14125], Stein et al. 1991:366 [ref. 19979], Matallanas & Pequeño 2000:526 [ref. 24421]). •Synonym of Careproctus pallidus (Vaillant 1888) -- (Andriashev 1997:6 [ref. 23198], Karmovskaya 2006:566 [ref. 29417], Andriashev 2003:150 [ref. 26955], Chernova et al. 2004:12 [ref. 27592], Stein 2005:14 [ref. 28392]). Current status: Synonym of Careproctus pallidus (Vaillant 1888). Liparidae. Habitat: marine.
