Additional specimen seen but not collected. •Valid as Hydrolagus alphus Quaranta, Didier, Long & Ebert 2006 -- (James et al. 2009:65 [ref. 30401], McCosker & Rosenblatt 2010:187 [ref. 30957], Weigmann 2016:166 [ref. 34211], Walovich et al. 2017:516 [ref. 35113], Jew et al. 2018:[3] [ref. 36022], Calle-Morán et al. 2020:248 [ref. 37881], Séret & Quod 2023:3 [ref. 40565]). Current status: Valid as Hydrolagus alphus Quaranta, Didier, Long & Ebert 2006. Chimaeridae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Galápagos Islands (Ecuador) endemic. Habitat: marine.
