Holotype (unique): CAS-SU 47521. •Mention -- (McCosker 1977:63 [ref. 6836]). •Valid as Callechelys cliffi Böhlke & Briggs 1954 -- (Allen & Robertson 1994:52 [ref. 22193], McCosker & Rosenblatt in Fischer et al. 1995:1333 [ref. 22830], McCosker 1998:196 [ref. 23298], Nelson et al. 2004:62 [ref. 27807], Love et al. 2005:19 [ref. 37547], Page et al. 2013:62 [ref. 32708], Love et al. 2021:35 [ref. 39279], Page et al. 2023:53 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Callechelys cliffi Böhlke & Briggs 1954. Ophichthidae: Ophichthinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: southern tip of Baja California and Gulf of California (Mexico) south to Panama. Habitat: marine.
