Paratypes: CAS 5558 (1, apparently to USNM), 5559-64 (6); USNM 120027 [ex CAS 5558-5564] (1, not found in 1980). Type catalog: Springer et al. 1991:9 [ref. 18888]. •Valid as Scartichthys fernandezensis (Clark 1938) -- (Pequeño 1989:66 [ref. 14125], Pequeño & Sáez 2000:33 [ref. 24590]). •Synonym of Scartichthys variolatus (Valenciennes 1836) -- (Williams 1990:26 [ref. 13549], Dyer & Westneat 2010:610 [ref. 31446]). Current status: Synonym of Scartichthys variolatus (Valenciennes 1836). Blenniidae: Salariinae. Habitat: marine.
