Holotype: CAS 55610 [ex IU 15026a]. Paratypes: (20) CAS 55609 [ex IU 15026] (now 8), CAS 55608 [ex IU 13951] (6), FMNH 55214 (4). Type catalog: Ibarra & Stewart 1987:57 [ref. 12367]. Also appeared at same time in Eigenmann 1922:167 [ref. 12408]. •Valid as Moenkhausia metae Eigenmann 1922 -- (Benine in Reis et al. 2003:149 [ref. 27061], Bertaco et al. 2011:60 [ref. 31234], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:52 [ref. 35633], Marinho & Benine 2024:231 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Moenkhausia metae Eigenmann 1922. Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: South America: upper Meta River basin, Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
