Type catalog: Bertin & Estève 1950:62 [ref. 19575], Ferraris & Vari 1992:42 [ref. 19771], Ferraris 2007:417 [ref. 29155]. Lectotype established in the caption to Pl. 8 in Eigenmann 1928 or 1927 [ref. 1245]. •Valid as Trichomycterus chiltoni (Eigenmann 1920) -- (Burgess 1989:322 [ref. 12860], Pequeño 1989:41 [ref. 14125], de Pinna 1998:297 [ref. 23847], Dyer 2000:84 [ref. 26678], de Pinna & Wosiacki in Reis et al. 2003:280 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:417 [ref. 29155]). Current status: Valid as Trichomycterus chiltoni (Eigenmann 1920). Trichomycteridae: Trichomycterinae. Distribution: Western drainages in central Chile. Habitat: freshwater.
