Locality and authorship corrected by Britski 1969:201, 203 [ref. 12401]. •Valid as Cyphocharax modestus (Fernández-Yépez 1948) -- (Vari 1992:82 [ref. 19020], Vari in Reis et al. 2003:56 [ref. 27061], Melo 2017:118 [ref. 35213], Koerber et al. 2017:14 [ref. 35267], Bortolo et al. 2018:350 [ref. 36016], Azevedo-Santos et al. 2020:5 [ref. 39606], Brandão et al. 2023:119 [ref. 40464]). Current status: Valid as Cyphocharax modestus (Fernández-Yépez 1948). Curimatidae. Distribution: South America: upper Paraná River basin and Paraguay River above Sete Quedas Falls (Brazil and Paraguay). Habitat: freshwater.
