Paratypes: CAS-SU 16055 (1), MCZ 19753 (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:22 [ref. 12291]. •Synonym of Carnegiella marthae Myers 1927 -- (Weitzman 1960:232 [ref. 9611], but possibly an upper Amazon subspecies). •Valid as Carnegiella schereri Fernández-Yépez 1950 -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:10 [ref. 9708], Weitzman & Palmer in Reis et al. 2003:101 [ref. 27061], Barriga Salazar 2014:106 [ref. 35745], Sarmiento et al. 2014:74, 186 [ref. 35004], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:62 [ref. 35633], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:15 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Carnegiella schereri Fernández-Yépez 1950. Gasteropelecidae. Distribution: South America: Amazon River basin (Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
