Probably a paralectotype.

A.] in Jordan 1878:40 [Bulletin of the Illinois State Laboratory of Natural History v. 1 (no. 2); ref. 10444] Illinois River, [probably at Pekin, Tazewell County], Illinois, U.S.A. Lectotype: USNM 23455. Paralectotypes: MCZ 25053 (1), CAS-SU 1683 (1), UMMZ 187505 (1), USNM 27894 (now 1). Non-types: INHS. Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:73 [ref. 12291], Smith & Bridges 1960:254 [ref. 21197], Collette & Knapp 1967:14 [ref. 20211], Sabaj et al. 1997:289-290 [ref. 23225]. Lectotype established (as figured specimen) in caption to Pl. 171, p. 3269 in Jordan & Evermann 1900 [ref. 2446] if figured specimen is identifiable. Subjectively invalid; secondarily preoccupied in Etheostoma by Poecilichthys camurus Cope 1870. •Synonym of Etheostoma chlorosoma (Hay 1881) -- (Page 1983:92 [ref. 22189], Mettee et al. 1996:599 [ref. 25836], Ross et al. 2001:464 [ref. 25978]). Current status: Synonym of Etheostoma chlorosoma (Hay 1881). Percidae: Etheostomatinae. Distribution: RF 9/21. Habitat: freshwater.
