Paratypes: ?BMNH 1903.5.15.163-165 [from Jordan] (3), CAS-SU 6656 (4), USNM 50401 (1), ZMB 15967 [ex SU] (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:78 [ref. 12291]. Holotype established in caption to Pl. 16. •Valid as Macrodon mordax (Gilbert & Starks 1904) -- (Allen & Robertson 1994:162 [ref. 22193], Bussing & López S. 1994:128 [ref. 23101], Chao in Fischer et al. 1995:1471 [ref. 22830], Carvalho-Filho et al. 2010:48 [ref. 30861], Jiménez-Prado et al. 2015:405 [ref. 34894], Parenti 2020:27 [ref. 37439]). Current status: Valid as Macrodon mordax (Gilbert & Starks 1904). Sciaenidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Panama and Colombia. Habitat: brackish, marine.
