Appeared first without distinguishing features in Jordan & Evermann 1896:401 [ref. 2442]. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of southern Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to Peru, including southeastern Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: brackish, marine.
