Syntypes (? including lectotype): CAS-SU 70 (now 5); USNM 44374 (1), 48259 (5), 125008 [ex USBF 450] (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:146 [ref. 12291]. Lectotype established (as figured specimen) in Jordan 1896:244 [ref. 2395] if specimen is identifiable (from Puerto Refugio). •Valid as Tomicodon humeralis (Gilbert 1890) -- (Briggs 1955:59 [ref. 637], Szelistowski 1990:504 [ref. 20183], Allen & Robertson 1994:88 [ref. 22193], De La Cruz Agüero et al. 1997:156 [ref. 24545], Thomson et al. 2000:261 [ref. 25640], Nelson et al. 2004:168 [ref. 27807], Love et al. 2005:160 [ref. 37547], Page et al. 2013:173 [ref. 32708], Love et al. 2021:202 [ref. 39279]). Current status: Valid as Tomicodon humeralis (Gilbert 1890). Gobiesocidae: Gobiesocinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: southern end of Baja California Sur (Mexico), and Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
