Paratypes: AMS I.39209-001 (2); CAS 50127 (11), 50130 (8), 50165 (1); MNHN 1998-1630 (1); NTM S.14764-001 (2); SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 13783 (1); USNM 351331 (2). Correct spelling of the genus is Coelorinchus. •Valid as Caelorinchus melanosagmatus Iwamoto & Williams 1999 -- (Chiou et al. 2004:303 [ref. 27687]). •Valid as Coelorinchus melanosagmatus Iwamoto & Anderson 1999 -- (Iwamoto et al. 2009:44 [ref. 30612], Prokofiev 2021:133 [ref. 38296], Prokofiev & Iwamoto 2022:209 [ref. 39688]). Current status: Valid as Coelorinchus melanosagmatus Iwamoto & Anderson 1999. Macrouridae. Distribution: Indian Ocean. Habitat: marine.
