Paratypes: (5) CAS-SU 3642 (1, discarded), 4048 (2, ? missing). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:129 [ref. 12291]. Type established in table on p. 19 and in Fig. 5 if specimen is identifiable. •Valid as Oligocottus rubellio (Greeley 1899) -- (Bolin 1944:70 [ref. 6379], Eschmeyer & Herald 1983:178 [ref. 9277], Nelson et al. 2004:121 [ref. 27807], Love et al. 2005:90 [ref. 37547], Page et al. 2013:124 [ref. 32708], Burton & Lea 2019:67 [ref. 37205], Love et al. 2021:124 [ref. 39279]). Current status: Valid as Oligocottus rubellio (Greeley 1899). Cottidae: Oligocottinae. Distribution: Northeastern Pacific: northern California (U.S.A.) south to Pacific coast of northern Baja California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
