Type catalog: Koumans 1940:148-149 [ref. 2676], Böhlke 1953:117 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Cryptocentrus inexplicatus (Herre 1934) -- (Myers 1999:239 [ref. 23965], Nakabo 2000:1227 [ref. 25182], Larson & Murdy 2001:3596 [ref. 26293], Nakabo 2002:1227 [ref. 26193], Allen & Adrim 2003:57 [ref. 26830] dated 1931, Hoese & Larson 2004:168 [ref. 28074], Hoese & Larson 2006:1637 [ref. 29097], Larson et al. 2008:147 [ref. 29532], Allen & Erdmann 2012:872 [ref. 31980], Larson et al. 2013:194 [ref. 32988], Parenti 2021:127 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Valid as Cryptocentrus inexplicatus (Herre 1934). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Indonesia east to Palau, Chuuk (Micronesia) and Solomon Islands, north to Yaeyama Islands (Japan), south to northern Australia. Habitat: marine.
