Parasalmo (subgenus of Salmo) Vladykov [V. D.] in Vladykov & Gruchy 1972:1632 Masc. Salmo clarkii Richardson 1837. Type by original designation (also monotypic). Appeared first in Vladykov 1963 without designation of type species and therefore unavailable (Art. 13.3). Published in an available way as above. There is still no agreement by authors on whether to recognize Parasalmo as a valid genus or subgenus -- see Bogutskaya et al. 2008:348 [ref. 30085] for comments. •Valid as Parasalmo Vladykov 1972 -- (Kendall & Behnke 1984:144 [ref. 13638], Dorofeeva & Savvaitova 1998:34 [ref. 23574], Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004:153 [ref. 28183], Bogutskaya et al. 2008:347 [ref. 30085], Parin et al. 2014:135 [ref. 33547], Dyldin et al. 2020:83 [ref. 37569]). •Synonym of Oncorhynchus Suckley 1861.
