Based on "Les Ancylodons" Cuvier 1816:299 [ref. 993] (see Gill 1903:966 [ref. 5768]). Spelled Ancylodonus by Jarocki 1822:234 [ref. 4984]; misspelled Anclyodon by Jordan 1917:104 [ref. 2407]. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Ancylodon Illiger 1811 in mammals, replaced by Macrodon Schinz 1822 and Normalus Gistel 1848. Possibly dates to Bosc 1816:497 (see Bauchot & Desoutter 1987:3 [ref. 6382]). •In the synonymy of Macrodon Schinz 1822 -- (Parenti 2020:27 [ref. 37439]). 1°Homonym.
