Syntypes: NMW 28663-76 (1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1); coll. of Hans Bath (9). Replacement name for Pomatoschistus affinis Kolombatovic 1891, preoccupied by Gobius affinis Eichwald 1831. •Synonym of Pomatoschistus pictus (Malm 1865), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Miller 1973:59 [ref. 7519], Miller 1973:510 [ref. 6888], Miller in Whitehead et al. 1986:1076 [ref. 13677], Bilecenoğlu et al. 2002:136 [ref. 26753] dated to 1972). •Synonym of Pomatoschistus pictus (Malm 1865) -- (Parin et al. 2014:496 [ref. 33547]). •Valid as Pomatoschistus adriaticus Miller 1973 -- (Fricke et al. 2007:106 [ref. 29533], Öztürk & Engin 2019:[3] [ref. 36554], Artüz & Fricke 2019:559 [ref. 36612], Kovačić et al. 2020:26 [ref. 37519]). Current status: Valid as Pomatoschistus adriaticus Miller 1973. Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Mediterranean Sea; Sea of Marmara; Black Sea. Habitat: brackish, marine.
