Lectotype: MCZ 24571 [ex MCZ 97]. Paralectotypes: MCZ 43090 [ex MCZ 24571] (4), UMMZ 86598 [ex MCZ 24571] (1), USNM 36598 [ex MCZ 24571] (1). Type catalog: Collette & Knapp 1967:14 [ref. 20211]. Spelled barretti in table of plates (p. 58); apparently a lapsus, as it is stated that the species is named after J. P. Barratt. Lectotype selected by Collette & Knapp 1967:14 [ref. 20211]. •Synonym of Etheostoma fusiforme (Girard 1854), but a valid subspecies -- (Page 1983:156 [ref. 22189], Collette 1962:173 [ref. 5865], Lee et al. 1980:650 [ref. 22416], Robison & Buchanan 1988:421 [ref. 23393], Ross et al. 2001:469 [ref. 25978], Scharpf 2008:26 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:599 [ref. 31215]). Current status: Synonym of Etheostoma fusiforme (Girard 1854). Percidae: Etheostomatinae. Distribution: Southeastern U.S.A. [subspecies barratti]. Habitat: freshwater.
