Lectotype and paralectotypes: ZIN 2950-51 (2, 2). Simultaneous secondary homonym of Leptocephalus mongolicus Basilewsky 1955:234 in same work. Bănărescu 1972:387 as first reviser gave precedence to Leptocephalus mongolicus. Lectotype desgnated as Pl. 4 (fig. 2) by Naseka 2004:54. •Valid as Erythroculter mongolicus (Basilewsky 1855) -- (Berg 1949:806 [ref. 20661], Yih & Wu 1964:100 [ref. 13499], Lu in Kuang et al. 1986:71 [ref. 26639], Chen in Chu & Chen 1989:91 [ref. 13584], Zheng et al. 1989:107 [ref. 21202], He & Liu 1980:483 [ref. 23126], Lu in Pan et al. 1991:92 [ref. 23876], Ding 1994:226 [ref. 21531], Zhu 1995:41 [ref. 25213], Chen in Chen 1998:120 [ref. 23556], Tang et al. 2001:12 [ref. 25373]). •Valid as Culter mongolicus Basilewsky 1855 -- (Luo & Chen in Chen et al. 1998:189 [ref. 23878], Kottelat 2001:21 [ref. 25482], Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004:54 [ref. 28183], Zhang et al. 2019:184 [ref. 36699], Guo 2021:156 [ref. 38617]). •Valid as Chanodichthys mongolicus (Basilewsky 1855) [sometimes as subspecies mongolicus] -- (Kottelat 2006:28 [ref. 28831], Bogutskaya et al. 2008:317 [ref. 30085], Kottelat 2013:87 [ref. 32989], Zhang et al. 2016:58 [ref. 34477]). 2°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Chanodichthys mongolicus (Basilewsky 1855). Xenocyprididae. Distribution: East Asia: Russia and China. Habitat: freshwater.
