Lectotype selected by Williams 1990:26 [ref. 13549]. •Synonym of Scartichthys variolatus (Valenciennes 1836) -- (Williams 1990:26 [ref. 13549], Dyer & Westneat 2010:610 [ref. 31446]). •Valid as Scartichthys rubropunctatus (Valenciennes 1836) -- (Pequeño 1989:66 [ref. 14125], Pequeño & Sáez 2000:33 [ref. 24590]). Current status: Synonym of Scartichthys variolatus (Valenciennes 1836). Blenniidae: Salariinae. Habitat: marine.
