asaro, Glossogobius Whitley [G. P.] 1959:318 [Australian Zoologist v. 12 (pt 4); ref. 4729] Asaro River, 5 miles south of Goroka, New Guinea. Holotype: AMS IB.3748A. Paratypes: AMS I.27611-001 [ex IB.3748B] (now 35). •Synonym of Glossogobius brunnoides (Nichols 1951) -- (Allen 1991:180 [ref. 21090]). •Valid as Glossogobius asaro Whitley 1959 -- (Hoese et al. 2015:18 [ref. 33684], Parenti 2021:160 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Valid as Glossogobius asaro Whitley 1959. Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: New Guinea endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
