Syntypes: (at least 5) BMNH 1855.9.19.802 (1) Haslar coll., 1855.9.19.872 (1) Haslar coll., 1971.12.30.2 (1) Reeves coll., 2014.10.8.1 (1) Haslar coll. Banarescu 1972:253 [ref. 23551] incorrectly recognizes a holotype and paratypes. Original genus should have been Cirrhinus. One of the syntypes [BMNH 1971.12.30.2] is designated as neotype of Cirrhinus molitorella (Valenciennes 1844) by Roberts 1997:194 [ref. 23550]. •Valid as Cirrhinus chinensis (Günther 1868) -- (Kottelat et al. 1993:33 [ref. 23448], Doi 1997:4 [ref. 22832], Roberts 1997:192 [ref. 23550]). •Synonym of Cirrhina molitorella (Valenciennes 1844) -- (Wu et al. 1977:353 [ref. 4807], Mai 1978:76 [ref. 13511], Zhang et al. in Yue 2000:201 [ref. 25272], Kottelat 2001:43 [ref. 25780], Kottelat 2013:88 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Cirrhinus molitorella (Valenciennes 1844). Cyprinidae: Labeoninae. Habitat: freshwater.
