frontalis, Leuciscus Agassiz [L.] 1850:368, Pl. 3 (fig. 4) [Lake Superior; ref. 66] Montreal River (tributary on eastern shore of Lake Superior), north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. Lectotype: MCZ 1751. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1867.4.12.3 (1), NMW 50807 (1). Type catalog: Gilbert 1978:45 [ref. 7042], Gilbert 1998:83 [ref. 23395]. Gilbert's 1964:142 use of holotype establishes a lectotype when more syntypes were found. •Synonym of Notropis cornutus (Mitchill 1817) -- (Gilbert 1964:141 [ref. 12397], Gilbert 1978:45 [ref. 7042], Smith 1986:180 [ref. 22186], Scott & Crossman 1998:451 [ref. 24570]). •Synonym of Luxilus cornutus (Mitchill 1817) -- (Gilbert 1998:83 [ref. 23395]). •Synonym of Luxilus cornutus (Mitchill 1817) but a valid subspecies -- (Scharpf 2005:22 [ref. 28940]). Current status: Synonym of Luxilus cornutus (Mitchill 1817). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Habitat: freshwater.
