tristis, Moniana Girard [C. F.] 1856:201 [37] [Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia v. 8; ref. 1810] Near 38°N, perhaps in Flint Hills region, east-central Kansas, U.S.A. Lectotype: MNHN 0000-427 [ex USNM 93]. Paralectotypes: MCZ 1793 [ex USNM 93] (1), USNM 93 (orig. 5, now 1). Type catalog: Gilbert 1978:84 [ref. 7042], Gilbert 1998:158 [ref. 23395]. On p. 37 of separate. Lectotype selected and locality information provided by Mayden & Gilbert 1989:1087 [ref. 19165]. Opinion 1821 (in 1995) suppressed tristis, and the name to use for this species is Notropis topeka. •Status uncertain -- (Gilbert 1978:84 [ref. 7042], Mayden 1987:790 [ref. 6630]). •Valid as Notropis tristis (Girard 1856) -- (Mayden & Gilbert 1989:1086 [ref. 19165], Page & Burr 1991:160 [ref. 18983]). •Synonym of Notropis topeka (Gilbert 1884) -- (Gilbert 1998:158 [ref. 23395]). •Synonym of Miniellus topeka (Gilbert 1884). Current status: Synonym of Miniellus topeka (Gilbert 1884). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Habitat: freshwater.
