Paralectotypes: BMNH 1865.5.3.50-51 (2). Original genus is correctly Hemiramphus. Lectotype selected by Collette 1965:230 [ref. 13343]. •Synonym of Hyporhamphus picarti (Valenciennes 1847) -- (Collette 1965:228 [ref. 13343], Parin 1973:269 [ref. 7191], Collette 1986:163 [ref. 6197], Collette & Parin 1990:581 [ref. 16473]). •Synonym of Hyporamphus picarti (Valenciennes 1847) -- (Bauchot in Lévêque et al. 1992:580 [ref. 21590], Collette 2004:10 [ref. 27583]). Current status: Synonym of Hyporhamphus picarti (Valenciennes 1847). Hemiramphidae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
