Possibly published earlier in Pellegrin 1935:415 [ref. 13732] but in name only. •Synonym of Alestes nurse (Rüppell 1832) -- (Paugy 1984:156 [ref. 6183]). •Synonym of Brycinus nurse (Rüppell 1832), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Paugy in Lévêque et al. 1990:216 [ref. 21589], Lévèque et al. 1991:139 [ref. 31367], Seegers et al. 2003:35 [ref. 28087]). •Synonym of Brycinus nurse (Rüppell 1832) -- (Boden & Geelhand de Merxem 2024:29 [ref. 40817]). •Synonym of Brachyalestes nurse (Rüppell 1832).
