Holotype (unique): TMH D154/13139 [old no. 3079] (dry, mounted skin). Appeared first in Ogilby 1893:62 [ref. 14532]; Morton used the same specimen and Ogilby's description, but Morton published it independently. •Preoccupied by, and objective synonym of Oxynotus bruniensis (Ogilby 1893). 1°Homonym.
