Lectotype: MNHN 1959-0107. Paralectotypes: MNHN 1959-0107 (5). Additional material: MNHN 1913-0229 to 0230 (1, 2), 1960-0481 to 0482 (7, 3), 1993-0006 [ex 1959-0107] (5). Lectotype selected by Teugels 1986:145 [ref. 12548]. •Synonym of Clarias laeviceps Gill 1862, but a valid subspecies -- (Teugels 1986:88 [ref. 6193], Teugels 1986:145 [ref. 12548], Burgess 1989:146 [ref. 12860], Lévêque et al. 1989:119 [ref. 26480], Paugy et al. 1990:340 [ref. 26477], Lévèque et al. 1991:143 [ref. 31367], Teugels in Lévêque et al. 1992:492 [ref. 21590]). •Valid as Clarias dialonensis Daget 1962 -- (Ferraris 2007:142 [ref. 29155]). Current status: Valid as Clarias dialonensis Daget 1962. Clariidae. Distribution: Guinea and coastal rivers of Sierra Leone. Habitat: freshwater.
